A Three Dog Life.

"Dog? I like dog! But how come this "Three Dog" without a S?" I picked up the book and wondered.

The best memoir I have even read. This book is a punch to the heart. Read it.

"Well, if Steven King said so, I will just take his words for it", I thought while I browsed the book's cover.
"Even though I didn't really like Steven King that much..." I added a silent comment at the same time.

From Wikipedia, native Australian use dog as an indicator for temperature. In a cold night, sometimes people have to hold their dogs to keep them warm. In the coldest night of all, they said it's "a Three Dog Night" in local language...

"That's so lovely" I thought, "and so sweet, I can definitely relate to this."

So, I bought the book and started reading it right away. And Steven King was right, this was really a punch to the heart.
It just reminded me that someone said once that there is no such thing as love except between father & son.
It reminded me the wedding vow I once took.
It still amaze me now how daring I was to commit myself to something like "till death do us apart."

I guess as always, some of my questions will always be my questions, like:

Is marriage a vow or rather an oath?

What's true happiness?

And above all, is love an overstatement?

This book doesn't answer these questions, if you asked me, but seeing someone being a mortal, not trying to be a saint is an interesting experience. I love Abigail's frankness and that's all it matters to me.

Check the Wiki on the net and this is what I found about Three Dog Night : An official commentary included in the CD set Celebrate: The Three Dog Night Story, 1965-1975 states that vocalist Danny Hutton’s then-girlfriend June Fairchild thought of the name when she read a magazine article about Indigenous Australians, in which it was explained that on cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground while embracing a dingo, a native species of wild dog. On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs, and if a night was especially cold, it was a “Three Dog Night.”[1]
